Winner of South Tyneside’s sportsman of the year in 2011 Nesbit is a well renowned player in the region and joins the club with a great reputation as a destructive scrummager, as well as a wily operator in the loose.

Mowden Park’s 1st Team Coach, Danny Brown added: “It’s fantastic to have sealed the services of Gareth. With 14 years’ experience of National League Rugby his knowledge and experience will only strengthen what is a relatively young squad.”

A natural leader Nesbit has played 186 games for Westoe RFC scoring 23 tries in his 14-year stay. He was held in very high regard throughout the North East and has been hailed the ‘talismanic captain’ by many at his former Club.

The ever-reliable veteran prop will be joining a growing Mowden Park pack teaming up with the likes of Matt Shields and Ralph Appleby to form what looks to be a formidable front row partnership.

Nesbit is the latest high profile player to join the squad alongside the likes of Arron Myers and Gary Law who have also pledged their futures to Darlington Mowden Park.

The 2014/15 squad will be out and about on the 9th August at the Mowden Family Pre Season BBQ. So make sure you get down to the Arena for a day of family fun and your chance to meet the squad and new signings ahead of the National 1 campaign.
