Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce their pre-season arrangements prior to the start of the 2018/19 National One season. Danny Brown’s side will travel to Hawick before hosting Yorkshire Carnegie and Watsonians at the Northern Echo Arena.

The 1st XVs pre-season preparations will kick off with a trip to Mansfield Park, where DMP will face Scottish premiership side Hawick on Saturday 11th August (Kick Off TBC).

Mowden then welcome Championship side Yorkshire Carnegie to the Northern Echo Arena for the first time on Saturday 18th August (3pm Kick Off), as they step up their preparations for the upcoming season.

Pre-season will then come to an end on Saturday 25th August as they face another Scottish Premiership side, Watsonians, reciprocating last year’s friendly at Murrayfield.

Mowden Park Director of Rugby Danny Brown said: “We’re looking forward to a really competitive pre-season as we gradually build up to 2018/19.

“The boys are looking forward to their trip to Hawick for what will be a good weekend for them, and it’s great to welcome Watsonians to the Arena after we played them away last year. Both the Scottish sides will be a good challenge for us.

“The Yorkshire Carnegie game will be a real test for us and one that everyone is looking forward to. They are obviously a top quality side and it should be a good indicator of where we are as a group before the season gets underway 2 weeks later.

“We’ve had a really good relationship with Carnegie over the last 3-4 years, including strong links through dual registered players. We’d like to thank Chris Gibson and his team for facilitating that and for helping to develop the partnership between the two clubs.”

Ahead of their first visit to the Arena, Yorkshire Carnegie Director of Rugby Chris Stirling said: “We are delighted to make the trip up to the Northern Echo Arena to face Darlington Mowden Park. The chance to play a friendly at such an impressive venue is a big attraction for us and we are looking forward to the game.”
