After a week of league inactivity, the 1ST XV return to action this coming weekend, when visiting Loughborough Students RFC.

Loughborough Students RFC are currently situated in 10th place in National League One, with their 62 points coming from 11 wins (which include 12 try bonus points and 6 losing bonus points).

Josh Sharp is their top point’s scorer with 109 points coming from 4 tries, 22 conversions, 14 penalties and a drop goal. Henry Taylor is their top try scorer, weighing in with 11 tries.

In the corresponding home game at the Northern Echo Arena back on Saturday 6th December 2014, DMPRFC prevailed in a 29 – 17 win, with tries coming from Andy NIXON, Callum MACKENZIE, Matt SHIELDS, together with a penalty try and the other points coming from the boot of Tom HODGSON, kicking a penalty and 3 conversions.

In Loughborough Students last game before the recent break, they lost the battle of the colleges going down narrowly away to Hartpury College RFC, 20 – 19.

Similarly, DMPRFC succumbed to a very good Rosslyn Park RFC outfit, when losing at home 12 – 24.

Tries from winger Tom KILL and fly half Grant CONNON, who also slotted a conversion, but it was never going to be enough against probably the best team to have visited the Northern Echo Arena so far this season.

With a few injuries picked up by several players in that game now having had the benefit of 2 week’s rest and recuperation, all available will be itching to get the nod for the game.

With 3 games remaining in the league programme, there is still no loss of focus for the squad, who are anxious to accumulate as many points as possible, with the carrot of finishing as high up in the league the prize until the very last game.

For all DMPRFC supporters visitng Loughborough University RFC, please note that the kick off is 2pm.
