After a year away playing professional rugby with England and GB 7’s, DMP Sharks are excited to welcome back Katy Mclean.

Here's Katy's thoughts on the season ahead and what it’s like being back on the Ship...

How does it feel to be back playing 15-a-side rugby after being focussed on 7's?
It's really exciting to be back playing 15s, training was interesting with so many bodies on the pitch but once I got used to that it was really fun. 7s has been such a big learning curve for me and I hope that I can take some of those lessons back to 15's.

What have you missed most about playing club rugby?
I'm definitely missed the banter and chat you get from the forwards and being able to boss them about and obviously goal kicking!!

You're based at Bisham Abbey now, how will you manage the commute?
Bisham is an amazing training base but it's a bit of a trek to DMP. Luckily SG Petch have sponsored me a really lovely car so that I can commute up in comfort. Massive thank you to John and the team for that...

What do you think of the new set up at Sharks?
I think it's great we have always been spoilt with quality coaches up north and I'm sure Phil will be of the same standard. It's also great to see the growth of the junior section and development teams after so much work.

What are you looking forward to most about this season?
Just getting some consistent 15s rugby under my belt and to play alongside some of the phenomenal young talent that sharks have. It's going to be a really exciting year with the World Cup next year and lots of competition for places.

Sharks next home game will be played at Kingston Park on Saturday 8th October KO 11:45am ahead of Newcastle Falcons v Bristol KO 3pm
