Gerald Quinn Joins Darlington Mowden Park Board of Directors

Darlington Mowden Park RFC are pleased to confirm Gerald Quinn has joined the Club’s Board of Directors.

The Club’s Board of Directors was formed in 2016 to work in collaboration with the Members Committee as part of the transition following purchase of the Darlington Arena.

Darlington Mowden Park Managing Director Lee Rust recognised Ged’s appointment, saying:

‘‘Ged has been working with us since the beginning of this year and has already made a substantial impact to our business and development plans. We’re delighted to formalise things and to welcome someone who has an outstanding business pedigree alongside a passion for our sport and this Club’s journey.’’

‘‘When forming the Board in 2016 we identified that we’d look to further strengthen things with specific skill sets to help deliver our goals. We’ll continue to do this as we move forward within the Club’s governance structure and plans.’’

Ged joins the Club with a significant worldwide business acumen. He is the founder and Chairman of the Vulcan Engineering Group that operates across three continents,as well being an owner and investor in a portfolio of businesses including Lloyd’s insurance, commercial property,sealing materials,medical and agricultural. This latest appointment reflects his passion for sports, in particular rugby, and the role of sport within the community.

Quinn commented on his new appointment saying:

“I am really delighted to be joining a Club with such a worthwhile and exciting vision for its own future, as well as its role within the wider community”

“I share and believe in this Club’s rugby potential including the ambition to deliver the Darlington Sports Village, which will be an outstanding regional centre for sports and community based activity. I am committed to supporting the Club to achieving its vision.”

Mick Birch, Chairman of Darlington Mowden Park RFC, formally extended his warm welcome saying:

‘’On behalf of the Club I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to Ged and to thank him for all of his work to date. We’re thrilled to formally have him on board and working with us at this pivotal time in the Club’s progression.’’
