This weekend, DMPRFC travel across country to the Woodland Memorial Ground HQ of Fylde RFC on the West coast.

Sitting one place and one league point above DMPRFC, the game gives both sides an opportunity to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three places, currently occupied by Blaydon RFC, Macclesfield RFC and Hull Ionians RFC, all Northern clubs who like the afore-mentioned two protagonists, are not at all 'sitting pretty'.

Fylde RFC have 4 wins to their name in their campaign to date, all at home, accounting for Esher RFC (26 - 20), Plymouth Albion RFC (39 - 37), Hull Ionians RFC (38 - 17) and Ampthill & District RFC (13 - 11).

They have accrued 9 bonus points during those games, sufficient to enable them to sit above DMPRFC in the table.

Top points scorer for Saturday's hosts is Gregory Smith with 78 points, which include 2 tries, 25 conversions and 6 penalties. Top try scorer is Chris Briers with 6 crosses of the whitewash.

Last season, DMPRFC hung on at the Woodlands (17 - 21), but fared much better back at the Northern Echo Area (40 - 14).

No matter what, contests between the 2 sides have always been hard fought contests and this weekend will be no exception, as Fylde RFC Director of Rugby, in ex-England Counties, Lancashire, Sedgeley Park RFC, Orrell RFC (R.I.P.) and Nottingham RFC lock Paul Arnold, will no doubt have honed his side and will be ready for the challenge.

With club honoraries such as Bill Beaumont, Wade Dooley, Brian Ashton, Steve Bainbridge, Jason Robinson, Eric Peters, Tony Swift et al, also Malcolm Phillips (President of the England RFU, 2004/05) illuminating the club alumni board, then it just goes to show how far DMPRFC have come in being able to mix it with such esteemed opposition.

It would be a total fillip for DMPRFC to back up last Saturdays victory over Esher RFC (48 - 31) at the Northern Echo Arena, with another at the weekend.

First half tries for David FISHER (later retiring with a fractured ankle) and Santiago SOCINO, together with 2 conversions and 2 penalties from Warren SEALS gave DMPRFC a slender 20 - 16 lead into oranges.

A further 4 tries were scored by DMPRFC after oranges, via Ben FRANKLAND, Adam RADWAN, Callum MACKENZIE and James FITZPATRICK.

The boot of SEALS added another 3 conversions, before Josh BRAGMAN added another conversion at the death, when SEALS had already retired.

It won't be any easy task on Saturday and Fylde RFC will be certainly up for the game and anxious to banish last season's games with DMPRFC.
