Frankland, who started his career as a flanker, was top try scorer for Tynedale for the past two seasons and was named in the Rugby Papers National League One team of the season last year.

Charters featured in all but one of Tynedale’s National League One games last season and despite their relegation he was an influential figure for the club.

Mowden Park Head Coach John Newton said of the signings: “We are delighted to welcome both Ben and Matt to the club.

“Matt is a destructive Back Rower who really caught the eye when we played against Tynedale last season and we’re really excited to see him play.

“Ben is an elusive player and a point’s machine who will bring with him his experience of playing a lot of Sevens Rugby.

“Adding the two guy’s means there is lots of completion for places in both positions and we are looking forward to seeing them in action this weekend.”

Both players will be hoping to be part of the squad that faces Hawick in the clubs 1st Pre-Season fixture this coming Saturday (Kick-off 3pm)

Before the game will be the Mowden Family Pre-Season BBQ (12pm-2.30pm) where fans can have the have chance to meet both Ben & Matt and the rest of the 1st XV squad. There will also be something for everyone including; Food Stalls, Bars & Soft Drinks, Bouncy Castle, Paul Swift Precision Driving Team and Children’s Activities.
