We are pleased to announce the signing of Rugby League Convert Ben Gledhill.

Former Wakefield, Salford Reds and Sale FC’s Ben Gledhill has signed for Mowden Park RFC for the forth coming 2014/15 National One campaign. The 24 year old has an accomplished rugby CV, initially starting his career with amateur club Westgate Redoubt ARLFC & Castleford Tigers, later moving to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats where he made his Super League debut at the age of 19. In 2011 Ben joined the Manchester based Salford Reds but after wanting to try his hand at rugby union found himself at Sale FC. In all, he's made over 35 Super League & Challenge Cup appearances and with his ability to play in the back 5 of the pack Ben established himself as an influential member in the Sale FC pack.

At 6' 5” & 105kgs, Gledhill with his physical and direct style of play looks to make an impact and get the ball rolling at his new Club “I am well aware of the history and stature of Mowden Park. I was really impressed with the setup, it is an ambitious Club with a talented squad of players and I can’t wait to get started”

As the Mowden Park RFC players get a well-deserved rest after a hard fought season, behind the scenes management will be working hard to build on a great squad of players and make sure the Mowden Park RFC continues to be a competitive outfit.

“We are under no illusions that National 1 will be big step up for the Club, it is important that we work to strengthen the squad in key areas as squad depth is going to be a big part in ensuring we field a competitive team every week. To have a player of Ben’s ability and experience I’m sure will be a great asset to the Club. Ben is a very athletic forward and will be a great fit into our expansive style of rugby.” (Danny Brown)

As talks and negotiations continue over the coming weeks we will hopefully keep announcing further signings alongside the re-signing of a large majority of the 2013/14 Squad.
