As we visit West Park (St Helens) this weekend for the last league game of the 2009/10 season, both teams will probably take time out afterwards to reflect on the season.

At such a late stage, West Park seem to playing the best they have all season, registering three wins from their last four games. Granted, with the way things have worked out with cancelled games, all of those games have been at home, which seems to have stirred things up, even though unfortunately they have been relegated.

Nevertheless, all credit to them in playing out their remaining games, giving everything they have to the end.

For our part, we too must give of our best to the end and then reflect on a mediocre season, but one where we have stabilised the club after last years’ disappointment.
