A last minute penalty by Ayr meant that DMPRFC first home game of the 2016/17 season ended in defeat.

In a game that was more about giving players game time than the score, the hosts more than matched their BT Scottish Premiership visitors.

Tries from Brandon STAPLES, Joe CRAGGS and Pete HOMAN meant the game was all square going into the final minute as the Ayr fly half slotted over with the final kick of the game.
