Local charity to benefit from November’s Fireworks Spectacular

The Northern Echo Arena are delighted to announce St Teresa’s Hospice as the official charity partner for the Aldi Darlington Fireworks Spectacular. The event, taking place on Sunday 5th November at the Northern Echo Arena, will help to raise money to support the local charity. Arena Events Manager Danny Brown was pleased to be working with the Hospice on such a big event: “We’re delighted to have St Teresa’s Hospice on board as the official charity for the Fireworks Spectacular in November. St Theresa’s are a fantastic local charity who help thousands of people in the Darlington area. We hope they will benefit greatly from such a fantastic event”.

St Teresa’s Hospice provides end-of-life care and support to terminally ill people and their loved ones across South Durham and North Yorkshire. Founded in 1986 and based in Darlington, the charity provides a raft of services including Day Hospice, in patient care, Hospice at Home, Family Support, bereavement counselling, children’s counselling and more. All services are provided free-of-charge, at a cost of approximately £2.4 million a year. Hospice director Jane Bradshaw said: “Everyone at St Teresa’s Hospice is absolutely delighted that Mowden Park RFC has chosen to make our charity a part of the triumphant return of the Darlington fireworks display. The money we raise on the night will be used to provide nursing care, counselling, family support and more, and will dramatically help us to offer the best possible support for terminally ill people and their loved ones all over Darlington, North Yorkshire and South Durham.

“We want to say a big “thank you” to the Club, and to everyone involved in bringing such a wonderful public event back to Darlington.”

The Hospice is currently celebrating the first anniversary of the opening of its new 10-bed in patient unit, which provides 24 hour care, 365 days a year. The charity and its many volunteers will be in attendance on the night, wearing their distinctive lightbulb hats!

Tickets for November’s fireworks are selling fast, and are available from the Northern Echo Arena and Dolphin Centre, or calling 01325 350267.
