Director of Rugby Rowland Winter brings his Coventry RFC squad to the Northern Echo Arena this weekend.

Visitors Coventry RFC are currently in 6th place in the league, with 40 points emanating from 8 wins, with 8 bonus points in that total (6 try bonus and 2 losing bonus points).

Top points scorer for the team is fly half Will Maisey who has amassed 94 individual ponts (29 cons, 12 pens) and their top try scorer is Owain James with 8 tries.

Stand out results so far this season for Coventry RFC, are:

Coventry RFC 54 v Loughborough Students RFC
Coventry RFC 61 v Macclesfield RFC 14
Coventry RFC 53 v Fylde RFC 24
Coventry RFC 55 v Cambridge RFC 17

As can be seen, all those wins were on home soil and it is away from the fortress of their Butts Park Arena that Coventry RFC have stuttered, with 1 win from 6 outings.

In the two seasons that both clubs have played each other in National League One, honours were even:

2014/15 - Coventry RFC 29 v DMPRFC 17
2014/15 - DMPRFC 32 v Coventry RFC 25
2015/16 - DMPRFC 29 v 21
2015/16 - Coventry RFC 27 v DMPRFC 10.

At a guess, both squads will be anxious to edge ahead today.

Following the encouraging win over Esher RFC (48 - 31), DMPRFC were keen to underline a change in fortune at The Woodlands Memorial Ground HQ of Fylde RFC.
Unfortunately, in a game where the lead changes hands several times throughout, the home team prevailed (31 - 25).

Tries from Ben FRANKLAND, Warren SEALS and Jamie BARNARD were added to by SEALS, who kicked 2 conversions and 2 penalties.

A bonus point was welcome, but scant reward for the efforts of DMPRFC, who certainly showed the signs of improvement needed to progress, in view of the relatively recent run of poor results and all augurs well despite the well documented and horrendous injury list.

So good luck to both teams in the run up to Christmas and talking of all things Santa, on behalf of all at Darlington Mowden Park RFC:

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPT NEW YEAR FOR 2017

(P.S. In preparation for the season of 'good will to all men', absolutely no account has been taken of a Coventry RFC website news pundit, who misguidedly alludes to DMPRFC's supposed problems behind the scenes, which should have no place in the build up to such an important game on the front pages of such a thoroughly decent and proud club)
