Blackheath RFC have had a good start to their 2015/16 National League One campaign, with 2 wins and a loss. The wins came courtesy of Cinderford RFC (H, 44 – 10) and Henley Hawks RFC (A, 13 – 47), with two convincing performances. The loss was inflicted at the Crow Trees home of Blaydon RFC, where on the first game of the new season, they lost (29 – 17).

Last season, Blackheath RFC finished creditable 4th place in the league and will be looking to do even better this season, so will be formidable opposition.

In the two games last season honours were even with a game apiece. DMPRFC won well in November 2014, at home at the Northern Echo Arena (50 – 10). Blackheath RFC prevailed at the Rectory Field in mid March 2015, squeezing a deserved win in a close encounter (29 – 27).

Blackheath RFC ‘s current marksman with the boot, is fly half Freddie Gabbitas, who has 37 points so far (8 conversions and 7 penalties), which is the same total as DMPRFC’s Garry LAW.

Still early days, but Blackheath RFC’s top try scorer at the moment with 2 tries is winger Tom Chapman.

A thoroughly better performance at Rosslyn Park RFC by DMPRFC last Saturday, saw the team compete well in all phases of the game, scoring 2 tries via scrum half Bruno BRAVO and replacement hooker Simon UZOKWE. Centre Garry LAW added 2 conversions and a penalty.

The final score of 26 – 17 was probably reflective of the game and deservedly won by Rosslyn Park RFC, but the DMPRFC team was severely hampered by the loss of BRAVO in the first half, albeit harshly, for an accumulation of 2 yellow cards.
