A brief look at what lies ahead at the start of the National League One 2015/16 season.

And so it begins again.

With the old adage of ‘it doesn’t seem five minutes since the end of last season resounding in everyone’s ears in and around the Northern Echo Arena, here we are at the start of the 2015/16 season.

This time it is a National League One programme ahead when returning to league action on Saturday, with three new clubs into the mix since last season’s relegation of Tynedale RFC, Macclesfield RFC and Old Albanians RFC.

Plymouth Albion RFC join the league after their relegation from the Championship. Hull Ionians RFC were promoted from National League 2 (North), Henley Hawks RFC similarly from National League 2 (South) and Ampthill & District RFC are added to the mix after prevailing against Bishop Stortford RFC in the play-off game. A warm welcome to them all.

Darlington Mowden Park RFC wish all those clubs relegated from National League One last season every success in their respective leagues and the same to promoted Ealing Traifinders RFC.

Since before the end of last season, preparations were being made for the up and coming season and those preparations have continued to date.

Naturally, by the very nature of the game and the players within it, personalities come and go and a reminder of the following have been released from the club during the break.

Darlington Mowden Park RFC wish to publically thank them all for their valuable contribution whilst they were within the Mowden Family and wish them well in the future.

Coaches Danny BROWN and John NEWTON, as well as connections, have been busy putting together a squad capable of sustaining and improving on last season’s league position (9th). The new recruits have been integrated with the retained 1ST XV squad and also with the DMP members and supporters who have visited the club during the break and the mix is very encouraging.

All of the squad have been involved in pre-season games and extracurricular activities, which has all been a positive build up to the first league game.

As the weeks progress, further details of the new players will be revealed.

Due to the imminent arrival of the New Zealand All Blacks and their exclusive use of the Northern Echo Arena as a training base for the Rugby World Cup, DMPRFC's initial fixtures have been re-arranged as follows:

Cinderford RFC (Away)
Henley Hawks RFC (Home)
Rosslyn Park RFC (Away)
Blackheath RFC (Away)
Ampthill & District RFC (Away)
Wharfedale RFC (Away)
Loughborough Students RFC (Home).
