1 week ago By Tom Bulmer

This weekend the men’s 1st XV make the day trip to Lancashire side, Fylde RFC (3pm Kick Off).

Woodlands memorial ground has been the North-West’s ground since forming in 1920. Fylde’s two most famous players were home grown, Malcom Phillips and Bill Beaumont. Malcolm Phillips, won 25 England caps at centre between 1958 and 1964 and became President of the RFU in 2004/5. The current Chairman of World Rugby, Bill Beaumont, capped 34 times for England and 21 times as Captain played at Fylde from 17 and stayed with the club until he was forced to retire.

So far, this season Fylde have won 3 games and gained 4 bonus points. Leaving them in 16th position on 16 points. Last weekend they picked up their most recent win at home against Bishop Stortford 29-22. Fylde’s top point scorer is Gregory Smith on 51 points and top try scorer is Thomas Carleton with 6 tries.
